Re: RMT: RX input and xRingBufferAddToQueueSetWrite ...

I think if we look at the internals here ... https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/blob/master/components/freertos/ringbuf.c#L641 We see that what is being added to the QueueSet is an internal (to Ringbuf) semaphore. As such, if I were to wake up from a block on a Queue Set, I wouldn't get a handle t...

RMT: RX input and xRingBufferAddToQueueSetWrite ...

This is a subtle one ... I'm studying the RMT RX input functions. I see that we can ask the RMT driver to create a ring buffer and get the handle to that ring buffer using "rmt_get_ringbuf_handler". Here comes the first part of the puzzle: What is the "origin" on the ring buffer ...

Re: Which GPIOs can be used for LED PWM

The ESP32 doesn't mandate that GPIO pins are hard-bound to any particular functions. As such, any GPIO pins that support output can be used for LED PWM functions. Specifically, I believe you can use:

GPIOs 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 ,19, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 32 and 33.

Re: Capacitive touch example?

I'm not a great fan of pointing someone to a header file and saying "there it is" ... I much prefer some guidance ... but thankfully this one looks simple enough. Apparently there is a touch pad driver and there is a header for it here. https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/blob/master/comp...

Re: ESP-IDF 2.0

Great job on the release notes. Delta changes and how to migrate I personally find very important and are my first port of call on a new release.

Re: JavaScript on ESP32 - Duktape

Project status: 2017-01-21 Progress continues. A new build/compiled release has been distributed with all the latest goodies ... see: https://github.com/nkolban/duktape-esp32/blob/master/docs/installation.md The latest goody that has been added is interrupt driven GPIO. We can now register a JavaSc...

[Answered] RMT peripheral: What is meant by a "carrier wave"?

While studying section 7.1 of the ESP32 Technical Reference on the topic of the RMT peripheral, I read the following: An RMT transmitter does this by reading consecutive duration values for an active and inactive output from the built-in RAM block, optionally modulating it with a carrier wave. I bel...

Re: What is PHY as it relates to ESP32?

Thank you sir ... if I understand correctly, PHY is the layer in ESP32 (hardware and software) responsible for the physical layer of network communications ... likely to include radio for WiFi and BT and possibly Ethernet. If we now look at the ESP32 specifically, we see that it has configuration pr...
