Re: Programming in C++ and using esp_wifi

Your timing is great. I too have been studying C++ programming in an ESP-IDF environment. Specifically not just C++ but the use of the Standard Template Library (something I have never looked at before). As I write sample project after sample project in C, I found myself copying and pasting C code o...

Re: Issues with I2C? Only 1 of 4 devices found by i2cscanner.c

Hmmm ... this feels pretty important. The specs for I2C suggest a pull-up of about 4.7K Ohms. Reading the docs on the I2C driver, I see the ability to software specify I2C master pull-ups via: http://esp-idf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api/peripherals/i2c.html#_CPPv2N12i2c_config_t13sda_pullup_enE and ...

Re: Issues with I2C? Only 1 of 4 devices found by i2cscanner.c

Ive had good luck so far "scanning" I2C devices. So far, all the I2C devices I have connected has shown up as advertized. Do you have access to a logic analyzer you can attach to the SDA and SCL lines? The scanner is really simple code. When a master starts a transaction and supplies the a...

Re: [Solved] Eclipse, C++ and the Standard Template Library

No question that the instructions in the formal docs gave me the notion of where to start looking ... no question. However, in Eclipse, there are many ways to "skin the cat". The end result in Eclipse is that we have a workspace and in the workspace we have projects and in the projects we ...

[Video] ESP32 - FreeRTOS Stack Space

Here is a video discussing FreeRTOS stack space usage in an ESP-IDF environment. This touches upon errors seen in user code that contain the message:

***ERROR*** A stack overflow in task <task name> has been detected.

Re: log output as UDP stream

Howdy, The ESP-IDF logging framework makes available a function called "esp_log_set_vprintf()" ... see: http://esp-idf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api/system/log.html#_CPPv219esp_log_set_vprintf14vprintf_like_t This function takes a function pointer as input and THAT function is called when e...

Re: I2C problems

It may be that you are running across the issue reported here ... https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/issues/377 Do you have a link to the datasheet for the device which shows the expected I2C flows? (I wasn't able to find it through a google search). In my experiences, I have found that the i2c_ma...

Re: UART dark after flashing

Have you tried running "make monitor"? The ESP-IDF contains a built in serial logger which I find to be extremely useful. I too had problems with "screen" but after switching to "make monitor", Ive never looked back. If that doesn't help, let us also ask: 1. What is you...
