Re: No logging output from the main c file

Looking at your source app, I believe I saw a

#include <adruino.h>

Try and remove that include and see what happens. I would't try mixing ESP-IDF and Arduino at this point.

ESP-MESH: Each node needs knowledge of the router ...

Am studying the ESP-MESH and read the following (https://espressif-docs.readthedocs-hosted.com/projects/esp-idf/en/latest/api-guides/mesh.html#mesh-networking): A router is mandatory during the ESP-MESH networking. Users need to configure the Service Set Identification (SSID), password and channel o...

Re: custom bootloader to update main firmware/application

At the highest level, I think you need to decide on your desired design. If you embed an HTTP server in the ESP32, then the ESP32 is a passive component to which requests will be pushed. If you embed an HTTP client call or an FTP client call in your ESP32, it becomes an active component that will ex...

Re: No logging output from the main c file

Howdy Justin, Your coding looks right. I do notice that in the sample messages that you showed, they are only at log level Information. I believe that if we even switch on the default logging to Verbose we should see more. This makes me think that maybe something went wrong in the "make menucon...

Re: ERROR running ADC Example: invalid conversion from 'void*'

It looks like the line which reads:

Code: Select all

adc_chars = calloc(1, sizeof(esp_adc_cal_characteristics_t));

should likely be:

Code: Select all

adc_chars = (esp_adc_cal_characteristics_t *)calloc(1, sizeof(esp_adc_cal_characteristics_t));

edit your copy of the sample and see if that makes progress.

Re: troubleshooting a WiFi connection

According to here: https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/blob/bae9709a7950e2ee08e14c65be27831bcb547105/components/esp32/include/esp_wifi_types.h#L91 201 means access point not found. Maybe check the settings for the definition of the access point you are trying to reach? Did I hear you say that you h...

Re: troubleshooting a WiFi connection

If we look here: https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/blob/master/components/esp32/include/esp_event.h#L85 We see the description of the STA disconnected event. We see that it contains a reason byte. If logged, that may give us a clue. I wonder if it is automatically logged if we switch on verbose l...

Re: troubleshooting a WiFi connection

Howdy, The messages tell me that the ESP32 is attempting to connect to an access point and is failing to connect. Since it didn't connect, it won't be allocated an IP address. If it were me, I'd investigate why it failed to connect. The SYSTEM_EVENT_STA_DISCONNECTED is likely to include some reason ...

Re: Can you step through code with GDB over UART? ("No symbol table")

Howdy Hamish, This is about the best docs on GDB stub I have seen: http://esp-idf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/get-started/idf-monitor.html?highlight=gdb%20stub#launch-gdb-for-gdbstub As that doc says, you can read memory and variables, look at stack frames and otherwise interrogate the memory state of ...

Re: troubleshooting a WiFi connection

If your ESP32 is being a station connecting to an access point and DHCP is in play, then when the ESP32 connects to the access point and is allocated an IP address, you should expect to receive a SYSTEM_EVENT_STA_GOT_IP. Have you switched on log-level=verbose to see all the events arriving? If you a...
