Re: What would you like to see in The Next Chip?

At the moment, the task stack not being allowed in PSRAM has to do with 1. the workaround the ESP32 needs, which is not baked into the ROM; the ROM may thus cause weird issues when working in stack in PSRAM, and 2. stack in PSRAM means the stack will 'disappear' when the CPU has to write to flash or...

Re: overwrite weak function not working always

Erm, you know that you can select panic behaviour in 'make menuconfig'? Restarting quietly is one of the options there.

Re: overwrite weak function not working always

So yes, that is the issue you have. .c or .cpp shouldn't matter. Can you see if this solves the issue for you?

Re: LDO and I2C sensor powered directly from the GPIO

It should work. I'd personally add a series resistance between the GPIO and the LDO/capacitor of, say, 100 ohm or so, to limit the inrush current.

Re: BLE gatt_client ( do while(0) )

Is this part of a macro (#define bla)? If so, this is probably what's happening: https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/cpp/Swal ... colon.html

Re: overwrite weak function not working always

Does the overriding function have its own .c/.cpp file? If so, it may be ignored entirely by the linker as it does not contain unresolved symbols.

Re: How to append file using spiffs??

fgets only gets one line at a time, and you only call it once, so your code will only ever show the first line in the file, even if there are more. You probably meant to use something like fread instead.

Re: Is it *required* to have Lyra hardware?

It will make your life easier, as a lot of the examples are geared towards one of the Lyra boards, but it's certainly possible to use the code with your own boards.

Re: asm keyword

It's part of a method to embed binary data in the resulting firmware: see the relevant parts of the ESP-IDF documentation for more info.
