Devkitc is an official espressif product and olimex is an authorized distributor. You can get a wide breadboard or straddle 2 breadboards.

Adafruit HUZZAH32 fits a breadboard.

Wemos lolin32 lite fits a breadboard and cheap.

Too vague. Identification or authentication? Protecting against what kind of spoofing/attack? Search for how devices are "provisioned" or "commissioned" on aws iot, xively, etc...
