Can you give us some indication what kind of application you are aiming at? Do you need symmetrical cores or specialized ones / accelerators?

Re: My ESP-32 EVK with sd card, codec and eth

Thanks!
One note on the schematic — you may consider adding a capacitor on the EN line, see 3.1.2.2 in "ESP32 Hardware design guidelines".

(later)
It may also be nice to have all the connectors for cables (USB, Eth, audio) roughly on one side of the board.

Re: My ESP-32 EVK with sd card, codec and eth

Can you post the board schematic on the Wiki or on Github?

Re: usage of esp_err_t event_handler

Event handler is used to tie events from WiFi/Ethernet/LwIP stacks into application logic. You can see some of the examples in ESP-IDF using these events: https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/blob/master/examples/protocols/http_request/main/http_request_example_main.c#L54-L73 For description of even...

Re: Using ESP-IDF within Arduino-esp32

You should be able to include IDF header files when you are writing code in Arduino IDE with arduino-esp32 package installed. You will not be able to change any Kconfig options, however. Currently we don't know of a way to build IDF libraries from within Arduino IDE (for the common scenario when 'ma...

Re: "Cannot execute this command without a live selected thread" using OpenOCD via JTAG on the ESP32 WROVER KIT

Also, openocd / gdb can be instructed to produce logs more useful for debugging... please follow the instructions here: http://esp-idf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api-guides/jtag-debugging/tips-and-quirks.html#reporting-issues-with-openocd-gdb and ideally raise this issue in openocd-esp32 issue tracker...

Re: Load code to certain regions of the flash

I think if we can get something similar to ARM's -mno-data-is-text-relative (which makes static data addressable via GOT) into Xtensa target, that would be enough to have dynamic loading with no caveats. Currently the obvious (but not nice for any non-trivial code) workaround is to *not* use static ...

Re: vTaskSuspendAll on Core0 halt tasks on Core1 too

I think the story here is that the tick interrupt on Core0 updates the global tick count. vTaskSuspendAll disables tick count updates, and as such, tasks sitting in vTaskDelay on Core1 never start running, because tick count remains constant. Thanks for pointing out this problem. Maybe we need to im...

Re: ESP32 Main Task Size

Actually, stack size is given in units StackType_t (even though FreeRTOS documentation says that it is given in words). In the original xtensa port StackType_t was defined as uint8_t. This was preserved in ESP-IDF version of FreeRTOS as well: https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/blob/master/componen...
