have you taken a look at the bootloader partition of a bricked device? We are currently facing an issue which seems somehow related. I.e. devices in the field that were running for several months are suddenly stuck in a bootloop). In my case I was able to un-brick the failed devices by ...

I'm currently analyzing an issue which has some suspicious simmilarities with this topic:
two devices got bricked in the field after (not neccessarily due to) performing an OTA update
a third one failed in the lab with simmilar symptoms (that was not expected and no OTA was involved)
