Resetting board to find access point wireless network

I have a ESP WROOM 32 breakout board by Node MCU. It is powered from a circuit which is connected to mains AC power. This circuit has a backup battery so when mains power supply is cut off, the circuit still has got power from the battery. I'm using my ESP32 as a WiFi access point. Now, every time t...

access point network repeatedly appears and disappears

I have a NodeMCU esp32 board and i'm using it as both an access point and server. I have been connecting to the access point(ap) with different devices. Now of late, every time i connect to the ap using different devices, the ap network keeps appearing and disappearing after a few seconds which repe...

Extending range of PCB antenna

Hi Guys

I have a Node MCU ESP32 Board and wondering if i can somehow extend the wifi range?

Is it possible to connect an external antenna to the board using any of the pins on the chip? I currently do not see in any provision on rhe schematic.

Re: Mysterious voltage drop when ESP32 board is connected

Hey krzychb, Im very grateful for the help. I was actually worried about the heat because i do not have much space for a heat sink but i realised that the heat dissipation will be 1.06 W so i dont know if i will need a heatsink if i connect the 12V directly. Im powering the ESP32 from the circuit bo...

Re: MYSTERIOUS VOLTAGE DROP WHEN ESP32 BOARD IS CONNECTED

Thanks krzychb. This is definitely my problem. Afrotechmods has just explained the problem but now i wonder what the solution is!
Here is my circuit. How can i get 5V to my ESP32 ??

Re: MYSTERIOUS VOLTAGE DROP WHEN ESP32 BOARD IS CONNECTED

Loboris,

I dont understand this. Why should i get 4V at the voltage divider instead of 8V??

Mysterious voltage drop when ESP32 board is connected

I'm powering my Node MCU ESP32 board by implementing a voltage divider on a 12V supply and then feeding to a 7805 regulator and using the output of the regulator to power the board. When i connect the output of the regulator to the board, there is a mysterious voltage drop from 8V to about 4V at the...

Re: Powering ESP32 breakout board without using USB port

Gfast2, I have found out something very interesting. The access point was disappearing because whenever power is disconnected and then reconnected again, the 'EN' button on the board has to be pressed for the access point to appear on the list of WiFi networks. So it had nothing to do with powering ...

Re: Powering ESP32 breakout board without using USB port

Hey Gfast2, Thank you for the schematic. From the schematic, Pin 19 seems to have a diode in between it and the 5V from USB. So I gathered courage and decided to supply 5V on the 5V pin and the RED led came on . The strange thing is that the access point i have created using the chip is no longer vi...
