multiple virtual TCP/IP interfaces?

Is it possible to have multiple virtual TCP/IP interfaces on one physical Ethernet interface? I need 2 interfaces with their own IP address, mask, etc. One will be receiving IP via DHCP in the 192.168.1.0/24 network. The other should assign it's own static IP in the 169.254.0.0/16 range. I know how ...

Re: OTA of factory app

@ESP_Angus thanks for the explanation of the concept of the factory partition. I understand that it defeats the purpose of having a fail-safe factory app if one is able to write to it in the field. But there will be (unusual) instances when we need to upgrade the factory partition via OTA. And of co...

Re: Forum search fails often

I was getting so frustrated with the search just hanging. Somehow my search for "search forum" didn't fail and brought me here.

Thanks for the advice to use google via https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aesp32.com+QUERY
That works! :)

Analog Comparator?

Is there an analog comparator function on this chip? If not is there a hack to get similar function? I have an input signal 0~30V (divided to 0~2.7V) that I need to compare with a threshold ~5V (divided 0.45V). I need to detect both rising and falling edge. Latency < 10us. Hysteresis of about 50mV w...

Re: BLE mtu and iPhone compatibility

Did you find any info specific to 4.2 DLE? I suspect that DLE is working automatically on ESP32 from my experience with an android phone transferring much faster vs iphone 6. The answer from Lucas.Hutchinson doesn't seem to acknowledge that MTU is different from DLE. Here's a great overview: https:/...

Re: app version string in partition image

Ok, I hacked the esp_app_desc_t into my 3.1.3 branch and it seems to work. I see from the hex editor my PROJECT_VER text appearing at address 0x00000030. This checks out since there are 2 structs before the esp_app_desc_t. esp_image_header_t is 24 bytes, esp_image_segment_header_t is 8 bytes. So inf...

Re: app version string in partition image

Thanks ESP_Angus this looks interesting. But I'm currently on stable 3.1.3. So is this structure not present in my builds? (I don't see any obvious version strings when looking at the .bin file in a hex-editor) Where is this structure physically located? Is it stored in the image itself (in the .bin...

app version string in partition image

I need the ability to tag my application image with a name and version string. Does the ESP32 app image file (*.bin) have any metadata embedded? Otherwise, I'm thinking of declaring (in the app code) a const char[] which is rooted at a fixed address. Then retrieve that string from a fixed offset in ...

Re: SPIFFS vs FATFS write speed

I've found in my experience FatFs (plus wearleveling) to be faster than SPIFFS. But I really wan't to try LittleFS. Here's an interesting benchmark. https://github.com/RIOT-OS/RIOT/pull/8316 Opening/writing 4000B/closing a file is about 8 times faster with littlefs than with spiffs Opening/reading 4...
