Re: Use micropython (or others?) for an embedded system

This is the wrong forum for this question by the way, it'd be better in the ESP-IDF forum and more people will see it.

Re: Use micropython (or others?) for an embedded system

We had to make the same decision and we chose to use the official sdk (IDF) and not micropython for the following reasons: IDF is supported by a large number of paid people at a company, whereas micropython is supported by a small number of volunteers. For this reason IDF seems more suited to writin...

Re: vprintf_like_t reentrancy

I have also got in a mess with this before. I found a simple solution was to do nothing in the vprintf_like_function except print the log and put the formatted string into a queue and do the meat of the work in another task: // all a bit simplified but you get the idea: int my_vprintf(const char *fo...

Re: parttool.py not working as documented??

I have had similar problems with parttool.py, but they turned out to be hardware problems. That command certainly works for me on latest sdk but I'm using linux. Basically all parttool.py is doing is calling esp_tool.py so just find out that command and run it directly and you will get better errors...

Re: Is ESP32 Mesh a viable solution?

Just out of interest, why can't you split up your existing mesh into smaller ones?

Re: Using ethernet instead of wifi at root node

I think you would take the no_router example as a starting point:
https://github.com/espressif/esp-mdf/tr ... /no_router
Then instead of communicating over UART on the root node, you'd communicate over Ethernet/MQTT/Whatever.

Re: can't run espcoredump.py

The problem was fixed by using a different usb-serial converter. The one I was using was based around a CP2104 and I'd always had occasional problems flashing. But when using espcoredump.py or parttool.py it is generally doing two or more esptool.py operations in a row which the CP2104 doesn't like ...
