Re: Failure to provision with 4.x IDF but works with 3.3 IDF

There seems to be a slight discrepancy of the file names. When I unzip this file: tar -xzvf ~/Downloads/xtensa-esp32s2-elf-gcc8_2_0-esp-2019r2-linux-amd64.tar.gz The directory that is created is xtensa-esp32s2-elf (notice the "s2" is part of the name). Then in the bin directory, all the binary execu...

CONFIG_PARTITION_TABLE_MD5 still treated incorrectly in 4.0-beta2

In a post about two months ago, https://www.esp32.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=12794 it was noted that 4.0-beta1 inverts the use of CONFIG_PARTITION_TABLE_MD5. I.e., setting it to 'n' causes the MD5 to be appended to partition table bin file. And setting to 'y' creates partition table without MD5 hash. ...

Re: Failure to provision with 4.x IDF but works with 3.3 IDF

Can you provide steps for updating the toolchain? I have never done that step. I usually install an entire version of IDF. I am on Linux and usually set IDF_TOOLS_PATH and then run install.sh. My current setup is Linux 64-bit Ubuntu 18.04, IDF 4.0-beta2. I have downloaded and unpacked the r2 toolcha...

Re: Failure to provision with 4.x IDF but works with 3.3 IDF

This is a promising path to pursue! On the bare-bones example app I have been using, changing MBEDTLS to use internal memory seems to have eliminated the error (4.0-beta2 IDF). It successfully provisioned. BUT... I now have a problem on my real application. It builds, but when it runs, I get error #...

Re: Failure to provision with 4.x IDF but works with 3.3 IDF

MBEDTLS log from v3.3.1 which has success. First diff in the two debug files seems to be the root of the failure: SUCCEEDS: I (3356) mbedtls: ssl_tls.c:2721 in_left: 0, nb_want: 5 I (3356) mbedtls: ssl_tls.c:2722 ssl->f_recv(_timeout)() returned 5 (-0xfffffffb) FAILS: I (11044) mbedtls: ssl_tls.c:27...

Re: Failure to provision with 4.x IDF but works with 3.3 IDF

Performed using v4.0-beta2. I activated the MBEDTLS debug feature and I have attached output files. One of the attached files shows my steps programming the board. Also attaching new sdkconfig file. This is just so strange. Do you think it is some esoteric configuration param that differs from 3.3.x...

Re: Failure to provision with 4.x IDF but works with 3.3 IDF

Thanks for the tips. I actually had previously tried using 16384 for the outgoing length and got a different error. No matter what config changes I try, I still get various errors during the handshaking phase. I just now tried again with outgoing length set for 8192. I am attaching my sdkconfig - th...

Re: ESP-Azure include in existing project

Link to my description re: provisioning handshaking problem when using v4.x IDF. Even if you get yours to build, it might not fully communicate if you are building against 4.x IDF.

Failure to provision with 4.x IDF but works with 3.3 IDF

Hi - I am porting a working Azure IoT application from v3.3 IDF to v4.x. I have tried 4.0-beta2 as well as 4.1 from Oct 15, 2019. I have struggled to find the reason why the 4.x fails during provisioning (during handshaking specifically), when essentially the same code built against v3.3 IDF works c...

Re: ESP-Azure include in existing project

I have just been doing this same thing. Here are several findings that help me. 1. If you are using CMake, for example with v4.x of IDF, try adding this EXTRA_COMPONENT_DIRS line in the project top-level CMakeLists.txt file. I got this from one of the esp-azure examples and just changed the relative...
