Re: CPU halting when working with timeval, gettimeofday()

It's a C thing. You have declared current_time and past_time as pointers (presumably to a location that will contain the time). You do not initialize them, so they point at... nothing. Then you ask the gettimeofday function to put the current time at whereever the pointer is pointing at... which is ...

Re: Debug with ICE

Erm, as far as I am aware, ICE is more of a generic term for in-circuit debugging while JTAG is the transport method, so they aren't mutually exclusive :) You can use almost any JTAG-adapter that works with OpenOCD: we have tested J-Link adapters and these work, but we use mostly FT2232-based soluti...

Re: Stuck with Hello_World example

The output you get indicates GPIO0 is stuck low, meaning the ESP32 will always go into download mode. Can you see if that's the case on your hardware?

Re: Component repository/manager?

Yes, we actually had plans for that from the start of ESP-IDF (which is also a reason the components are already pretty easy to exchange). It got stuck a bit because, well, getting esp-idf up to speed in general was more important, but we're picked this up again recently. Unfortunately I cannot give...

We support JTAG debugging, if that is what you are after. See the docs for more info.

Re: Making the I2C Master be non blocking

No, sorry. Callbacks would have to happen from an ISR context, which is very hard to use well. Can I suggest an alternate solution? Especially for the complex case you have here, you would be way better off spinning up a task that handles all the intrinsics of the timing of the I2C requests, and you...

You are aware the ESP32 already does capsense?

Re: how to build a project with just FreeRTOS support (no wifi, tcpip stack etc.)

Fyi, we use unused section elimination in the linker step. This means that while the build process will happily build all the objects needed for, well, everything you could use esp-idf for, the linker should afterwards only include the needed code in your final binary. So while I can understand comp...

Re: ESP32 As A TCP Server

Yes, you can set the ESP32 into access point mode so other devices can connect to it, then start up your TCP server as usual.
