Re: "flash read err, 1000" on custom ESP PICO D4 board

As Chegewara says, the first message is normal for a chip trying to boot from empty flash (embedded flash in this case). but then I receive a continous flow of 0x00 and I can't transfer my program... There shouldn't be any output after the output you've received. Can you confirm with a logic analyze...

Re: Setting CPPFLAGS with CMake and idf.py

Any idea how this is achieved across a whole project. I need to pass a number of -Dxxxxxx definitions to a large number of components, effectively the whole project, but cannot identity what component name to use for the main component. Using IDF master Hi Ammaree, There's two ways to achieve this,...

Re: Good way to initialize struct in C++

Hi brazoayeye, It is possible for the Eclipse project to be configured incompletely, meaning that although the project can build it doesn't know everything necessary for the code editor to work properly. Suggest following the Eclipse setup instructions again see if you missed a step. If that doesn't...

Re: Bug in FPU Coprocessor float division?

Hi simap2000, Sorry this post should have been updated when the fix was merged. The fix was merged in this commit and should be included in ESP-IDF v4.0 and newer. Can you please give some more details about what you're seeing? Specifically: Which ESP-IDF version are you using, and what is the reaso...

Re: Is this still a security bug? "Pwn the ESP32 Forever: Flash Encryption and Sec. Boot Keys Extraction"

Hi Munque, - Per your note " there is not [necessarily] a compelling reason to hold out for ESP32 V3 " -- Does that suggest the V3 is not widely available at this point in time? For now we're only interested in a few sample units for development. Are they available for purchase in small quantities? ...

Re: CMake building problems adding the cpp_utils component by N.Kolban

As well as BT configuration setting, in the CMake build system, components need to declare which other components they require. For source files in the cpp_utils component to be able to include headers from "bt" component, they will need to declare this requirement in the cpp_utils/CMakeLists.txt fi...

Re: partition erase and partition write DOES NOT WORK

esp_partition_erase_range("spiffs", 0, 0xAF0000); returns invalid argument. The first argument of esp_partition_erase_range() takes a pointer to a partition structure. I'm surprised this didn't fail with a compiler error, but maybe it only issues a warning? Recommend always checking for compiler wa...

Re: Is this still a security bug? "Pwn the ESP32 Forever: Flash Encryption and Sec. Boot Keys Extraction"

Hi Munque, 1 - Is the ESP32v3 the next version following the ESP32S2 or a different version? This is a good question, can appreciate that the naming is a little bit confusing: ESP32 V3 is a silicon revision of ESP32. (There have been ESP32 revisions 0, 1 and now 3. Version 2 was never made widely av...

Re: auto-reset circuit vs continuously running application

Hi Daniel, Thanks for the scope traces, that is very illustrative. Would it help to slow down ramp-up of RTS using capacitor? Maybe but I think probably not, the auto-reset circuit is still going to generate a hard falling edge on the EN pin for the ~2.5ms period where RTS# is pulled low and DTR# is...

Re: auto-reset circuit vs continuously running application

Hi daniel, Does the automatic reset happen at the moment the USB host is connected, or later on when you open the serial port? If the latter, what host OS do you have and what program are you using to access the serial port? The exact details of the problem will depend on the host OS and the FT231X ...
