Re: use of arduino-esp32 hal for esp-idf ?

Absolutely. You can add arduino-esp32 as a submodule into the components directory of your ESP-IDF project, and use everything there, not only the hal.

Re: Programming in C++

There is a plan to support C++11 thread/concurrency library by writing appropriate wrappers around FreeRTOS API. But given current progress, i think this is going to be a post-1.0 feature. The fact that -lstdc++ has to be explicitly added to build flags is a bug, and is on the list to be fixed pre-1...

Re: Assembler language reference manual ...

1) A way to Count Leading Zeros of a 32bits unsigned integer Does such feature exist on ESP32 CPU ? Yes, using NSAU instruction. Compiler will generate it if you use GCC __builtin_clz() intrinsic. 2) In a near future write an IDA Pro Processor Module for ESP32 (as only ESP8266 is supported ...) I h...

Re: Assembler language reference manual ...

As for the number of cycles required for each instruction: please note that this information is not in the Instruction Set Architecture reference manual, because this behaviour is implementation-dependent. You can find an older version of the document on the Internet, just google for "xtensa isa_rm....

Re: [Q] user/custom space addr room on the SPI Flash for data

Hi @jmattsson, We've been discussing how we can implement mutable partition table, while making sure we don't accidentally corrupt it (due to sudden power off, for example). Trying to balance some requirements like bootloader complexity, reliability, and so on, we came up with the following. - In ad...

Re: Meaning of reason codes in system_event_sta_disconnected_t?

There is an anonymous enum in esp_wifi_types.h with members called WIFI_REASON_xxx. These are disconnect reasons. Will update event structure to use this enum.

Re: system_get_time() does not appear to tick until after esp_wifi_init() is called

Yes, logically it should work either after startup or after system_init. I think this function derives time from internal clock of wifi peripheral. We should change that to use either RTC or another timer.

Re: Zephyr support for ESP32

Zephyr does look good indeed, unfortunately there is no support for multiprocessor systems there right now.
