idf.py is failing when I checkout ESP-IDF v4.1

Hi there, I'm in Ubuntu Linux, Python version 3.6.9. Today I wanted to compile something in the esp32s2beta since I'm waiting that some S2 arrive, so I switched to: https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/tree/release/v4.1 update submodules and run pip install requirements again. But I got an error wit...

Re: Help with components visibility

Awesome. Very important part to read that I missed. Thanks for enlightening me. Much appreciated. I will try to build on next weeks a component to drive E-paper displays purely on IDF without using Arduino framework components. Since I tried to refactor GxEPD to work in IDF but is built on a way tha...

Help with components visibility

Hi there! I wanted to know if I'm missing something in my CMAKE instructions since from componentA (CalEPD) I cannot include componentB (Adafruit_GFX) Source codes are here: https://github.com/martinberlin/cale-idf/tree/tft_adafruit Basically I would like to include the fonts in a class I'm starting...

Re: 2D graphic lib for ESP-IDF ?

I'm also interested on this topic, to get both Adafruit GFX and fonts working, in a Epaper new component I'm trying to make. https://github.com/martinberlin/cale-idf/blob/idf-base/README.md I just started with IDF a few months ago. My idea is to make something the way GxEPD is doing on espressif32-a...

Re: Unable to convert a JS JSON.stringify'd array to a C++ ArduinoJson equivalent -- empty array

>Question: Why the use of strlcat instead of strncat. The strlcat link has a big 'non-standard' warning and some other notes suggesting to go with strncat. I'm not really so versed in C++ to answer this question. But my recommendation is to follow examples that don't use strings. It boils down to th...

Re: Unable to convert a JS JSON.stringify'd array to a C++ ArduinoJson equivalent -- empty array

I'm at the moment on a completely different topic but I have a very good suggestion for you: Stop using Strings and try to do the things using chars[] I had a lot of problems using Strings and learned the hard way to do things differently. One way is using strlcat , as an example, you can check here...

Re: Error trying to download large file using WiFiClient.connect() "Task watchdog got triggered"

off-topic of mine: The thumb was created long-time ago when I was starting with Arduino.
Then I built my first Led Matrix that it was called Peggy2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzfG5oioG-k
No ESP32 back then ;) We just sent data via Serial using USB and Processing.org

Re: IDE for ESP-IDF

I use Platformio for both IDF and espressif32-arduino. I think it's a decent IDE.

But I do compile the things in a separate command-line. Same as git, for some reason I dislike IDEs for that, I like to see things directly in command line nerdie style :)

Re: Any reference example for GDEW0154T8 E-Paper LCD with ESP32 IDF

I started some months ago with IDF also. So I consider myself an ESP-IDF newbie still... Is there any special class to be used on ESP-IDF for epaper / eink displays? I've searched and found only one project: https://github.com/loboris/ESP32_ePaper_example But it seems abandoned, last update was 3 ye...

Re: Error trying to download large file using WiFiClient.connect() "Task watchdog got triggered"

I would also like to understand exactly how delay(), yield() and so on help to free resources. I understand it more like that the ESP32 needs to have some time to do it's internal WiFi stuff so that's why in large loops, you need to add yield() or a minimal delay so it has time to do that tasks. Wha...
