ESP32 - Battery powered on demand

Postby xavier32 » Mon Feb 12, 2024 2:57 pm

I would like to convert my ESP32 PIR sensor from continuous battery powered to battery powered on demand. When I'm home - don't need to waste battery energy.

What are the options?
Manual ON/Off switch
BLE Relay module
433Mhz Relay module

Why I search this?
Because my home security PIR sensor is working continuously. I need to switch on the PIR sensor when leaving home and switch it off when I get back home. This should save even more battery energy. And it can be used on other projects when you need remote power control, filter only needed events.

Manual ON/Off switch is not a good solution for this project because the PIR sensor is not easily accessible. It exists any microamps RF module so I could switch ON and OFF my PIR sensor at small distance?

Just use a transistor or fet to power your PIR, and control it though a GPIO pin.
