Yes, it is, although I couldn't tell you anything about the timeframe before it hits the market.

I would like some news on this as well. We are planning a second rev of our product and would love to stay with Espressif, but if 5GHz is not on the roadmap at this point, we will have to evaluate other solutions.

It certainly is on our roadmap and we actually do have development going in that direction, but we don't have a concrete chip to announce at this moment. If I were to make an educated guess, I'd say something should pop up in the 2nd half of next year, but given the vagueness of roadmaps, don't hold it against me if I'm off.

@ESP_Sprite - Any updates here? We have a request from one of our clients for large quantities of 5GHz devices. We have already integrated the 2.4GHz version and they are happy but wanting to expand their capabilities this year.

Gotcha. Current closest estimate for a chip that can do 5G is at the end of 2019; I'm afraid I don't really have much more info.

Thanks Sprite. Hopefully we do not need to switch platforms, but smart-home customers are demanding 5GHz.
