EHOSTUNREACH: cause and recovery?

Hi all -

I'm running several units of a product based on the WROVER, IDF release/v4.1 on a network. Occasionally, one of the units will produce this error:

on a socket write. The units keep WiFi online while on mains power, and the WiFi seems fine (no error reported).

Any ideas on what might cause this? And, as far as recovering from it, I've tried closing and re-creating the socket, but that doesn't help. The only other thing I can think of doing is disconnecting and reconnecting WiFi, which seems a little drastic. Can anyone think of an intermediate alternative?
