WiFi current optimization in soft AP

Hi,

What are the options to optimize the current due to WiFi?

Is there a possibility to decrease the current due to the wifi radio while running soft AP? (It increases the current by 80mA).

I only need the soft AP to work on a very short distance and send 2kB every 10 seconds. I read about the modem sleep, but that does not work in AP mode. Any other options (decreasing the power/range of the antenna?)
