Is possible to connect ESP32-S2 to a 4G USB dongle and connect to the internet? (not using WIFI)
This is probably technically possible. Depending on the exact USB device it may require some additional driver support which may or may not be supported in ESP-IDF.

Note that you can connect an ESP32 to a serial cellular interface right now, we have an example with support for the Quectel BG96 LTE module: https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/tr ... pos_client - and other modules which support PPP over Serial should be easy to integrate.

I see the ESP32-S2 has a 'Time-of-Flight' mode - I understand the software for this is not ready yet but can anyone official comment on how this works? Is there some kind of hardware timestamping support on the wifi PHY?

No ethernet, shame but I can understand why given all the other removed features for this version.

I hope there'll be a new one with ethernet plus PHY and maybe a POE PD controller (the lack of those takes away some of the advantages of a small esp32, by the time they are added you have a big board like PI's ad such). IoT for buildings isn't safe/reliable when it's all exposed on wireless the users can get at, sure for a couple of home devices.

There is big potential in all the industrial devices POE powered and ethernet connected.

Good, the company is on stock market now. :D :D :D :D :D
I really hope that the company also have a module like PICO-D4-S2 in the future. I will like it even the size increases to 9x9mm or 10x10mm

Hi

get we a new toolchain or can we build with the esp32-S2beta ( Chip7 2-2-A ) for Released ESP32-S2?
we can use the same future branch ( feature/esp32s2beta branch ) for the Released ESP32-S2 ?
the future brunch will merged in the same ESP32 IDF later, right?

i ask cause the CHIP7 2-2-A == ESP32-S2Beta right?
The comming ESP32-S2 is then Release version - is there hw spec diff to ESP32-S2Beta?

txs
best wishes

Yes, 7.2.2 = S2Beta. S2 final is 7.2.3. There will be some hardware differences between the two, but nothing spectacular (mostly bugfixes and small features).
