ESP32 DevKitC v4 (external power 3.3V)

Postby Marcoverdial » Tue May 21, 2019 10:53 pm

Hi guys,

I'm using Esp32 DevKitC v4 and I would like to use a LiFePo4 (3.3V) as an external power supply, connected to the 3V3 pin. My question is: Do I need to take any precautions doing that? Using the 3.3V supply can I get 5V out of the 5V pin?

Any help is appreciated :D

Not sure if using a LiFePo is officially possible; you'd have to look at the datasheet of your particular cell and see if the min/max voltages it outputs falls within the range of voltages the ESP32-Wroom module on the devboard can handle. I can however say that you won't get 5V out of the devboard in that situation as the devboard normally uses a LDO to generate 3.3V from the 5V line; that LDO is not going to work in reverse.
