[DIY] update Wrover-Kit v2 ( Wroom32 ) with Wrover Modul

Postby rudi ;-) » Tue May 02, 2017 2:03 am

hi guys

the Wrover Kit V2 ( black ) has WROOM-32 mounted and have Wrover Modul pads as reserve.
Can we desolder the WROOM-32 and mount the Wrover Modul by simple doings or must we do more work on it?

bzw:
the ESP32_Demo_Board_V2 ( blue, touchpads, LCD Adapter PCB ) has free U8
can we mount PSRAM on it or is this without function?

thank you
best wishes

Yes, you can. I have some Wrover-kit-V2s that have been modified in exactly this way.

I don't have a Demo_Board_V2 here, but I don't think psram works there... the design was from before we started working on that, if memory serves. It's possibly for a second SPI flash chip.

ok jereon, this helped;

btw, i pulled up GPIO12 for 1.8 V in first try - was not sure,
i have now 1.8 V on Spi Flash and RAM , and booting is ok.

Q: is the ( SPI Flash) ESP-PSRAM 3.3V or 1.8V on Wrover V4 module, jeroen? can we drive ESP32-D0WDQ6 with ESP-PSRAM32 with 3.3V?
Q: the limit 1.8V is only for D2WDQ5 ?

btw - do we need the flashed firmware on Wrover V4 Module?

bootlog: ( guys - do you find PSRAM info on the bootlog? ) :mrgreen:
