esp-wdf building wasm files

Hi,
I am trying to include the wasm runtime in a project I am doing, however the biggest step is compiling a file to wasm the correct way. There is the esp-wdf repository from espressif, however, the guide suggested in the readme file with the included example does not work as advertised.
Thus my question: Has anyone any experience on how this works?
