Issues with 8080 16-bit Parallel Mode + LVGL on ST7789Vi

Postby ManelCS. » Tue May 13, 2025 8:40 am

I'm running a benchmark to compare performance between the 8080 parallel protocol using 8 lines vs 16 lines.

In 8-bit mode, everything works perfectly, and animations run smoothly without any issues. However, when switching to 16-bit mode, I'm encountering problems with animations: parts of the image seem to be drawn in the wrong places on the screen, as if the data is getting corrupted or out of sync. Static images, however, appear correctly.

I'm using a display with the ST7789Vi controller and the LVGL graphics library and ESP32-S3. I've tried reducing the clock frequency and the display refresh period, but the issue remains.

Has anyone observed differences in animation compatibility or reliability between 8-bit and 16-bit modes? Any ideas on what might be causing the artifacts in 16-bit mode?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
