Fatal Error Related To The ESP32-P4 Datasheet Link And Incorrect Pin Numbers On The Website

Postby MERAGA » Sat Feb 21, 2026 3:31 pm

Hello,

The expressions used in the title may seem exaggerated; however, the nature of the issues I encountered unfortunately makes such wording necessary. The first issue I would like to report appears on the product page where ESP32-P4 SoC devices are listed together with other ESP32 SoCs.

On the relevant page, there is a clear inconsistency in the section where the pin counts of the devices are specified (Image‑1). Although the chips share the same package size (Image‑3) and even the same underlying platform, the pin counts are listed as follows:

ESP32-P4NRW16 and ESP32-P4NRW32 models: 55 pins (likely referring only to the GPIO count),

ESP32-P4NRW16X and ESP32-P4NRW32X models: 104 pins (likely all pins excluding the exposed pad surface).

However, no such significant change or correction is mentioned in the revision reports. Additionally, within the EasyEDA design tool, the ESP32-P4NRW32 device (as shown in Image‑2) appears as a 104‑pin component (105 pads including the exposed pad). This suggests that the information presented on the product page is either incorrect or, at minimum, inconsistent.

Although this may appear to be a minor detail, if I had not noticed this discrepancy, I would very likely have purchased an incorrect device revision containing issues that are critical for my application.

The second—and more critical—issue concerns the datasheet redirections. As shown in Video‑1, when attempting to open the datasheets for ESP32-P4NRW16X and ESP32-P4NRW32X, the links redirect users to the datasheets of the ESP32-P4NRW16 and ESP32-P4NRW32 models instead.

While the ESP32-P4NRWxxx series shares the same architectural foundation, certain technical specifications and integration connections are not identical. Moreover, English datasheets for the ESP32-P4NRWxxx models are not available on third‑party websites, meaning users must rely on the official source for accurate technical documentation. Therefore, correct redirection on the official website is critically important. Encountering such an issue even on the official source is genuinely surprising.

I believe these issues should be corrected as soon as possible. Additionally, since Espressif does not appear to provide a more direct communication channel with makers such as myself, I am sharing this feedback through the forum.

Finally, I would like to ask the following question: Where can I purchase the ESP32-P4NRW32X device in quantities below 10 units (small‑quantity orders)?

Best regards,

Hi,

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback and for providing the supporting materials. We truly appreciate the time and care you took to report these issues.

1. Pin count inconsistency

The pin count inconsistency on the Product Overview page has now been corrected. For both ESP32-P4 chip revision v1.3 (NRND) and ESP32-P4 chip revision v3.x (recommended), the GPIO count is 55.

2. Datasheet redirection issue

You are correct that the current datasheet redirection can be confusing. Sorry for the inconvenience.

At present, the publicly available datasheet is for ESP32-P4 chip revision v1.3 only: https://documentation.espressif.com/esp ... eet_en.pdf. Starting from datasheet version v0.6, we updated the document title to clearly indicate the chip revision and modified the filename accordingly. However, to prevent broken links in existing documents and external references, we implemented a redirection from: ../esp32-p4_datasheet_en.pdf to ../esp32-p4-chip-revision-v1.3_datasheet_en.pdf.

We understand that this may create confusion, especially when users are expecting documentation for different product variants. The datasheet for ESP32-P4 chip revision v3.x is currently under preparation and will be released soon. Alongside it, we will also publish a dedicated user guide detailing the design changes and differences between chip revision v3.x and earlier versions.

You may subscribe to ESP32-P4 products to receive email notification once the new documents are published.

3. Purchase inquiry

At present, ESP32-P4NRW32X has not yet entered mass production and is therefore not available for general purchase.

If you require a small quantity for evaluation or development purposes, please contact Espressif Sales to apply for samples by submitting a request through the official sales inquiry form. Our sales team will review your application and follow up with you accordingly.

Thank you for your prompt response and for updating the documentation; I am very glad to see the corrections have been implemented.

Regarding the samples, I am currently in the development phase of a high school engineering project. I am consulting with my teachers and school administration about the procurement of these chips for our prototype.

I would like to ask if there is a specific support channel for educational/student projects at the high school level. Since our school follows specific procurement procedures, I wanted to check if you have a recommended distributor or a formal method that would allow our institution to acquire these samples for our project.

Thank you again for your guidance and for supporting young developers.

Best regards,

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Espressif products.

After check, our business team does not have a dedicated sample application channel specifically for high school or university student projects. If you have sample requirements, please submit a request through the form available on our official website: https://www.espressif.com/en/contact-us/sales-questions

When completing the form, you may enter your school’s name under the Company section. For any fields that are not applicable or uncertain, you may indicate "TBD" or "N/A". Please make sure to clearly describe your project requirements in the Question / Inquiry section so that our team can better understand your needs.

Regarding the establishment of a dedicated application channel for educational institutions in the future, we will share your feedback with our business team for internal consideration.
