Why is the footprint most of the time the same, but are the strapping pins different on the WROVER and WROOM modules for the ESP32, ESP32-C3, ESP32-S2, ESP32-S3.
When the module name gives the impression that the footprint is the same, in reality it isn't.
It would be so much better if the modules would be mostly interchangeable. This way Espressif makes it possible companies can to work ecologically by not having to redesign PCBs and make use of the existing ones.
Currently using the ESP32-WROOM-32UE and would really like to upgrade my product with the newer modules, but this will mean I need to completely redesign the PCB. In my design I only use 1 pin to turn on/off a relay and the VSPI protocol.
