considerably reduced RSSI in 2.0.9 vs 1.0.6 ?

Hi I am working with ESP32 Dev , Arduino IDE 2.1.0
I updated the board definition in Arduino IDE from ESP32 1.0.6 to ESP32 2.0.9
I noticed that with the same code, in the same physical location, the WiFi RSSI decreased considerably from -50 dBm to -78 dBm.
Does this mean that 2.0.9 has lower WiFi reception strength or is there a new definition/calculation of RSSI in 2.0.9 compared to 1.0.6?
