Need help installing ESP-IDF on windows
Posted: Fri May 16, 2025 1:02 am
I have installed ESP-IDF as a VSCode extension. When I click on New Project, it gives the following error...
I've done the "Doctor command", and everything in the list shows undefined.
Here's an extract...
Background info - I've spend more than 10 hours on this, and reinstalled it five times so far. I've tried from VSCode, and also tried installing ESP-IDF separately first, then linking it to the VS code extensions. I've tried express and advance installs, and tried installing in different directories, and in the default directories. I've spent hours trying to set the environment variables correctly and trying to fix the problems with the install. I'm a professional programmer with many years of experience with windows and embedded systems, but this development environment just isn't working. I would very much like to use the proper ESP-IDF environment in vscode, and not fall back to the arduino programming environment. Please help.
