I tried installing ESP-IDF on Ubuntu as described here:

I had a previous version of ESP-IDF installed, but I’m not sure if it ever worked.
To uninstall it, I deleted ~/.espressif and ~/esp/esp-idf.
Exact commands I ran afterward:
