Re: Help test the new forum!
Okay, I did some more fixes:
- Breadcrumbs are back
- Select all on code block works again (by the way, I don't think anyone used it much; it's broken on this forum as well)
Still need to fix:
- Safari font size difference old/new forum
Optionally:
- Add inline code formatting
- Line numbers on code-blocks
- Polish mobile browser view
Meanwhile, IT is doing all the behind-the-scenes work to get the infrastructure (DNS records, HTTPS stuff etc) migrated. Given the fact that I don't think we have anything left that stops people from being able to use the forum, we're probably going to migrate fully on Thursday next week.

Re: Help test the new forum!
It was always broken just like search, so im guessing most of us just used to it.- Select all on code block works again (by the way, I don't think anyone used it much; it's broken on this forum as well)
Old forum and new one too have some problem with counting posts and topics (not really important, just saying).
Search is working on new forum, but its not very accurate, but im guessing its how the plugin works (i will stay with google search, i guess):
- whitespace characters like "-" are ignored, but i believe that searching for "esp32-s3", "esp32-p4" and so on will be very popular searching
Its hard to tell if its faster, because now we can see just a few users on new forum when on old one there is 800+.
I dont know why, but i like old UI more, but at the end not the UI is important. Important is community and the content, so i hope to see more activity on forum, but its not something we can solve with plugins.
And i have to say i like that AI bot is added on new forum.

Re: Help test the new forum!
I guess the errors we kept getting and the extremely low speed we have now with the old forum cause frustration and people to turn to other places. I feel that activity here has gone down significantly over the past few weeks, and I hope that it picks up again with the improved user experience of the new version.

This is a complete redundant stubborn waste of resources by Espressif, and I already went over why and how this could be better addressed here

Tried it. The speed is good. Better than this forum. Do you have any plan to close this forum and switch to the new one completely?Okay, we have a new server with more up-to-date forum software running. We also gave the theme a lick of paint to be more in-line with the main Espressif website and we should also be able to protect it from crawlers that slow it down more easier.
Only thing we need is some testers to see if we broke anything. For now, we have a testserver runs off a copy of the database that will be deleted when we do the actual migration. So go wild: spam topics, message eachother, message me, do whatever; after the testing period is over, everything will disappear. If anything breaks, please post it here. Also if you are bothered by something or have ideas for improvement, please post it here.
Testserver URL: https://esp32-test.espressif.com/
We'll probably let it run for a week or two before we nix the database there and migrate the forum over for real.
Re: Help test the new forum!
Yes. The plan is to close ESP32.com for a few hours, move the database over to the new server, then redirect the ESP32.com domain there as well, then re-open everything. For any user unaware of the test forum that's on the server now, it'll just look like we freshened up the theme a bit, added a few new features, and made everything faster.

So, we will be able to login with our current username and password, right?Yes.
