Is there a way to detect lost clients quickly?

Hello,
I'm using several ESP8266 as TCP-Server and TCP-Clients. It can happen, that a client gets lost due to
power problems. It than disappears from network, but the server is not aware about it. It takes a very long
time until the Server releases the connection.
Is there a way to detect lost clients more quickly? Maybe within 1 or 2 minutes? I did not find a solution, even
PING did not work as expected.

Can please anybody advice ?
