Will esp-idf support 8-line high speed ddr mode in future?

I used an 8-line eMMC on my circuit board to improve read/write speed, but I found in the documentation that the high-speed DDR mode does not support 8-line eMMC. I would like to ask if this is a hardware limitation or if the software is not support? I am using the newly released P4 chip.Thanks a lot.
