UART+GDMA Transmission and Reception

How can I write the code for a UART application that transmits and receives data via GDMA?

I can't find any documentation or tutorial or example on GDMA in general, except for what's written in chip's datasheet and reference manual.

Isn't there a high-level API that allows to work with DMA? The only thing I found is a GDMA API under the esp_private directory of ESP-IDF, so I assume that this API is not meant to be used in an application.

Do I have to write the low-level code following the instructions in the reference manual of the MCU? (I'm using an ESP32-C6)
