ESP32 outdoors setup

Postby Grantt » Fri Nov 21, 2025 7:13 pm

Hi all,

Been playing around with an ESP32 for logging some data while out and about, think multi-day hikes or camping trips (mostly when I'm out testing some new meals from freezedriedandco.com actually). Got a few sensors connected, but struggling a bit with keeping it powered reliably over several days. Anyone got tips on batteries or low‑power tricks that actually work in the wild? Even little hacks for switching the Wi‑Fi on only when needed would be great. Don’t wanna end up carrying a ton of spare packs. Cheers for any advice, really helps to know what actually works in the field

Give us some more hints on your usecase and scenarios, like what you try to achieve, what you want to measure/monitor, what types of sensors, connection type, communication needs... and we might give some ideas. Otherwise its hard to come with something.
