Bluetooth only Declaration of Confromity

Postby SiCertify » Sun Jul 12, 2026 9:43 am

Hi everyone,

We are currently preparing a product for CE certification under the Radio Equipment Directive (RED). Our hardware utilizes an ESP32-WROOM-32D-N16 module. However, our application strictly uses Bluetooth/BLE, and we have completely deactivated the Wi-Fi functionality at compile-time via firmware (the Wi-Fi stack is never initialized).

Since the hardware is technically dual-radio but functionally single-radio in our product, how should this be handled regarding the Technical Construction File? Do we need to declare this software restriction in the DoC or should we include an attachement regarding this matter in particular? what should it include?

Any insights or templates from someone who has been through this would be greatly appreciated

I think you can include a declaration within your TCF. The CE certificate can cover only the BLE functionality. If you have questions, please contact our support team at https://www.espressif.com/en/contact-us/sales-questions
