ESP32-U4WDH does it need external memory?

I am planning to use the esp32-u4wdh into a new design. From what I understand the chip comes with 4 mega of flash in the chip itself. But in the documentation is saying that external flash si compulsory. So, my question, is: Can I use the chip just with the internal flash without connecting any external flash memory?

Yes, the U4WDH has an internal SPI flash die it can boot from. No external flash is needed for that particular version.
