ESP-Modbus over UART0

Environment: MacOS | Visual Studio Code | ESP-IDF 5.4.1 | ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1-N8R8 | ESP32-S3-WROOM-1
Code: ESP-Modbus v2.0.2 | examples/serial_master.c

I am attempting to run ESP-Modbus example code over UART0 that is connected to the USB-UART bridge on the board.

What configuration settings do I need to accomplish this?

I have, in the recent past, been able to build and run the example code with some modifications to the point where, as evidenced by the log output, it cycles through the defined CIDs (modbus requests). Unfortunately, it seems that there is a conflict in use of UART0 or the I/O pins in use.
