Bootloader_uf2 flashing ESP32S3 continually

Postby asi_dadon@yahoo.com » Fri Aug 29, 2025 2:32 pm

hello,
i need help, im trying to have the ability to flashh my ESP32S3 with dropping a UF2 file to it, i have used this espressif example :
esp-iot-solution/examples/usb/device/bootloader_uf2/
https://github.com/espressif/esp-iot-so ... loader_uf2
after i flash it my esp32s3 showing up as a mass storage device on my PC, next im dropping to it a UF2 file of this code:

Code: Select all

#include "driver/gpio.h"
#include "freertos/FreeRTOS.h"
#include "freertos/task.h"
#include "esp_tinyuf2.h"
#include "esp_log.h"
#define LED42_PIN 42

static const char *TAG = "My UF2 App IS Running";
void app_main(void)
{
    gpio_reset_pin(LED42_PIN);
    gpio_set_direction(LED42_PIN, GPIO_MODE_OUTPUT);

    while (1) {
        gpio_set_level(LED42_PIN, 1);
        vTaskDelay(pdMS_TO_TICKS(3000));
        gpio_set_level(LED42_PIN, 0);
        vTaskDelay(pdMS_TO_TICKS(1000));
        ESP_LOGI(TAG, "this is your app now");
    }
}

using this command:

Code: Select all

python main\uf2conv.py build\BlinkUF2.bin -c -b 0x00 -f ESP32S3

the esp restarts and my dropped UF2 is executed propertly
problem is now i cant get the esp back to UF2 mode, its just wont open back as a 'mass storage device'

at espressif page they saying this:
Note
To use the UF2 OTA function continuously, the TinyUF2 function must be enabled in the updated APP.
im not sure how to use this info

one last thing ill share is my bootloader_uf2 sdkconfig:

Code: Select all

#
# Bootloader UF2 enter config
#
CONFIG_BOOTLOADER_UF2_GPIO_NUM=0
# CONFIG_BOOTLOADER_UF2_GPIO_LEVEL is not set
CONFIG_BOOTLOADER_UF2_GPIO_PULL_TIME_SECONDS=2
# end of Bootloader UF2 enter config
# end of Component config
i also tried to set
CONFIG_BOOTLOADER_UF2_GPIO_LEVEL=y
and it did not changed

i will be glad to get help on that, for sure im missing something
thanks from advance
