Hi all, this is my first post here. I wanted to share Buce, an open-source aquarium LED controller I developed using the ESP32-C3, and give a technical overview. Some of you might find it interesting for DIY lighting or ESP32 projects.

Buce is a compact controller supporting 6 independent PWM channels, high-resolution dimming, and flexible dimming curves. It’s designed to be modular, reliable, and fully customizable.

Key technical points:
  • ESP32-C3 for Wi-Fi connectivity, OTA firmware updates, and remote control.
  • Independent PWM channels with 12-bit resolution for smooth lighting.
  • Supports multiple dimming curves (linear, logarithmic, exponential, CIE1931) for realistic lighting simulation.
  • Fully open-source hardware and firmware (OSHWA certified).
  • Built-in over-temperature and over-voltage protection.
  • Managed via an Android app (iOS version in development).

All design files and source code are open-source in here: https://github.com/borneo-iot/borneo. If you don't want to join the crowdfunding, you can take the files and manufacture the PCB yourself.
