Help on connecting ESP32 to 64*32 hub75 led matrix

Hi!
I have a project where i want to connect my ESP32 to a HUb75 led matrix. The matrix will be powered by a 5V 6A power supply. What i would like help with is if it is enough to connect the matrix to the power source, and the matrix to the ESP32 (using a ribbon band with jumper wires in one end).
Or do i also need a cable from - on the power source to a GND pin on the ESP32? There will be a common ground from GND pin on the matrix to GND pin on ESP32, but is that enough? I am just trying to figure out how to make the connections as easy as possible.
Thanks in advance.
