ESP-32S doesn't boot

Postby hare345# » Wed Mar 04, 2026 6:18 pm

Hello, I can't get my ESP-32S module (without board) to boot. Tasmota is flashed.

.\esptool.exe --chip esp32 --port COM6 erase_flash
.\esptool.exe --chip esp32 --port COM6 --baud 460800 write_flash -z 0x0 C:\Users\x\Downloads\tasmota32-DE.bin (also 115200)
.\esptool.exe --chip esp32 --port COM6 verify_flash 0x0 C:\Users\x\Downloads\tasmota32-DE.bin
esptool.py v4.11.0
Serial port COM6
Connecting...
Chip is ESP32-D0WD-V3 (revision v3.1)
Features: WiFi, BT, Dual Core, 240MHz, VRef calibration in efuse, Coding Scheme None
Crystal is 40MHz
MAC: 70:4b:ca:8c:3d:ac

Verifying 0x209670 (2135664) bytes @ 0x00000000 in flash against C:\Users\x\Downloads\tasmota32-DE.bin...
-- verify OK (digest matched)
Hard resetting via RTS pin...

Doesn't boot and there's no serial connection, even though EN, GPIO00, and GPIO02 are each connected to 3.3V via their own 10K resistors, and GPIO15 is connected to GND and Reset (EN briefly connected to GND) via a 10K resistor.

When GPIO15 is open:
rst:0x10 (RTCWDT_RTC_RESET),boot:0x1b (SPI_FAST_FLASH_BOOT)

The power supply is sufficient and has also been tested with a lab power supply.
There are various instructions online for pre-configuring the pins. I have tried many without success.
I have successfully converted several ESP devices to Tasmota before. But I'm stuck here.

Looking at the tasmota webpage, I think that's an OTA image. Try uploading tasmota32.factory.bin first and then using Tasmota itself to upload the German language version.
