Bricked M5Stack DINmeter

Postby ted33414 » Tue Nov 04, 2025 6:07 am

Hi all..

So I got a (hopefully not) bricked DINmeter. It still connects to the PC but I cannot flash anything. It gives me the error: Invalid head of packet (0x08)
But its the same USB cable I used for flashing my first test library after which the display wouldnt turn on anymore. So it should work.

I am guessing I had the wrong board selected as I got confused. There are so many similar sounding names for these devices. M5stack, M5stampS3, ESP32, M5 DinMeter. I think I got the wrong one which caused this mess.

All I am trying to do now is to start over from scratch.

Any ideas?

Try holding the G0 button when powering up the device; if the issue is something in flash, that should bypass it.

Thank you - I understand that will put the device into download mode right?

But once I am in download mode what firmware would I need to upload in order to get the device back to factory settings?

Not sure, you'd have to ask M5Stack (or see if it's on their website)
