ESP12-S and ESP07-S having problems to wake from sleep

Postby Hasenradball » Sun Dec 14, 2025 12:57 pm

Dear Espressif Team,

i used ESP12-F module since years without having prolems getting up from deep sleep.

Now I bought some ESP07-S and ESP12-S modules and connected it with the same external circuit than I did for the ESP12-F since years.
See https://esp8266-01-adapter.de/wp-conten ... ter_v2.pdf

But if I test the deep sleep the chip does not wake up as normal, it seems if woke up it is in bootloader/flash mode.
This behaviour I did not see in the ESP12-F modules before.

My impression is that the S-modules have problems to wake from deep sleep mode.

Dear Espressif Team I need help here.

Best Frank

Probably not the discussion is about the PullUps and PullDown at GPIO 0, 2, 15.
But thats not the problem.
It must be an other issue.

Is there a specification what has to be done for the robust wake from sleep?

Found this post which shows the that the S-modules has a missing resistor:

Can anybody explain?

Here I did some comparison of different modules:

a) ESP01 - wake OK!

b) ESP Wemos D1 mini with 12-F module - wake ok:

It shows the ESP12-S has the shortest pulse of all but also the ESP07-S does not wake up.

It is difficult to extend the pulse with by adding some resisors or else.
So there has been some schematic changes with result is this issues!
